Description
Otter/Mustelid Soft Foam Head Base.
Sculpted in Monster Clay, then moulded and cast in SmoothOn Flex IT 3 expanding soft foam. This is the perfect base for a characterful Otter or other Mustelid Fursuit head or for any number of other costume or prop uses. This head will be provided with a custom 3D printed pair of eye blanks that can be either printed in flexible material, or solid plastic depending on your preference.
It can be provided raw where you have to do all the trimming, sanding and post production work, as featured in the first photos. Or you can pay extra to have it mounted on a wearable balaclava, have mesh already in the eye blanks, and ready to be furred and/or decorated. With a zip up the back of the head for easy, flexible wearing for different sizes.
This is sculpted on an Monster Makers Ed Head, which has a crown of 57cm/22.5″ but is flexible enough that it’ll happily sit on larger or smaller heads. (Mine own is 23.5″) Also, because it’s cast with the head base inside, the back of the expanding foam has shapes for your nose, eyes and mouth to sit. This will help guide you to trim openings for breathing, and mean that it should fit very comfortably against all faces. Actually, this helps a lot with heat, because if trimmed correctly, there’s no direct path between breathing out hot, humid air, and the rest of your head and eyes that lead to overheating.
[Warning] As with all hand made products, slight variations in the castings from the moulds are to be expected. If bought as a fully DIY product, there will likely be some amount of finishing to do in order to use it. The trade off is soft comfortable foam that conforms nicer to the human face for extra comfort in a way that neither flexible 3D printed bases do, or resin cast bases.
